C'est à Chickasha' dans l'Oklahoma qu'est né Merle KILGORE, le 9 août 1934 mais c'est à Shreveport en Louisiane qu'il grandit.
Chanteur et auteur/compositeur orienté 'Country', on lui doit notamment "Ring of fire" popularisé par Johnny CASH, "Wolverton mountain" pour Claude KING et "The folk singer" pour Tommy ROE.
De cet album, je retiens principalement deux titres joués au 'Popcorn': "Wicked city" et "A lover's hell".
