Le groupe se compose de:

En 1960, ils se produisent au Peppermint Lounge de New York pour ce qui ne devait être qu'une représentation.
Le succès est tel qu'ils deviennent le groupe attitré du club et y resteront une année.
DEE et le producteur Henry GLOVER écrivent "Peppermint twist" qui devient n° 1 début 1962.
Le groupe apparaît également dans plusieurs films:
"Hey let's twist"
"Shout Pt 1" chanté dans le film devient leur second succès (n° 6)
"Two tickets to Paris"
"What kind of love is this" (écrit par Johnny NASH) figure dans la BO du film (n° 18).

Je dois avouer que c'est à partir de ce dernier titre que j'ai accroché et l'album proposé a conforté mon opinion.
"I lost my baby"
(également écrit par Johnny NASH reste un classique du Popcorn).
Il est repris, chez nous, par Nana MOUSKOURI "Laissez moi pleurer"
(j'ai ajouté la version de Johnny NASH en bonus)

Hello, I'm new here, but was in NYC and saw the Starlighters live. Yeah, PRIVILEDGED as you say, to see the greats and others (like Joey Dee and the Starlighters) along the way. Does the name David Brigati look familiar? That's cause his "little brother" was Eddie Brigati, who joined Joey Dee for a while, before coming up with another band (BIG TIME) called ... THE RASCALS. Yeah! It's all in WIKI.
RépondreSupprimerThanks for your great work, and I like you like the 60's and ALL THAT JAZZ... too. I love the Sarah Vaughan doing her best to be very commercial. That's cool, even if she was the QUEEN OF JAZZ and didn't need to try to be Theresa Brewer (had coffee at the Cafe Reggio with her later on, and her then new hubby, Jazz producer Bob Thiele... I was more talking to him about his cool label IMPULSE! ... Yeah, great times in the late 60's, early 70's too before it all felt different, and the Villages moved on.
